Note: The result listed above was the outcome of a vote held amongst a panel of football journalists, with each allowed to pick a top five from a list of nominees selected by
France Football. The player in first place received five points, the one in second received four points, etcetera, etcetera. In order to be nominated, a player had to be playing for a club
in one of the countries belonging to UEFA.
